Caio Carvalho is an Agronomist graduate from the University of São Paulo’s “Luiz de Queiroz” College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP, 1973), with post-graduation courses in Agronomy and in Business at the USP School of Economics and Business including Vanderbilt University (USA).
Director of CANAPLAN – a private company that provides consulting and projects for the sugar and ethanol sector, since 1983. Director of Market Relations for the mills of the Alto Alegre S/A Group. Vice-President of ABAG and President of the Board of ABAG – the Brazilian Agribusiness Association. Partner in Bioagência, a company that markets sugar and ethanol in domestic and international markets. Member of the Superior Council of Agribusiness of FIESP – the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo. Director of UDOP – the Union of Bioenergy Producers. Board Member of UNICA – the Union of the Sugarcane Industry and of SIAESP – the Sugar Industry Union in the State of São Paulo. President of the National Academy of Agriculture of the SNA since March 2015. Board Member of ESALQ/USP, and a member of several private and public councils. He has been the Special Agricultural Envoy to the Presidency of COP 30 since May 2026.
He has published several articles and is co-author of sectoral books in Brazil and abroad. Main awards: Bunge Foundation 2007 (Life and Realization – Agroenergy category); SAE Brasil 2008 (Agricultural Machines category); Agronomist of the Year 2011 (AEASP – Association of Agronomists of the State of São Paulo) and IAC 2013 (IAC – Agronomic Institute of Campinas, Agribusiness Personality category); STAB Award – Saccharum 2016; Honored by IBDA – Brazilian Institute of Agribusiness Law, in 2026.
