Rodrigo began his career in international commodity trading in 2006 as one of the first employees of the then Bauche Energy. He helped establish and grow the company, focusing specifically on the bagged sugar market. After leaving his role as Executive Director at Bauche, he joined Sucden do Brasil in 2011, moving into bulk sugar trading and taking responsibility for product origination in Brazil.

In 2015, he accepted an invitation to join ED&F Man’s London team, marking an important international step in his career. After a year in London, he returned to Brazil at the company’s invitation to lead its trading division as Country Manager. He held this role until 2021, when ED&F Man appointed him to coordinate sugar operations across the Americas, including Brazil, Central America and the United States.
