Javier joined Trafigura in 2019 and is a Manager in the Structured Finance Energy team. He originates, structures and executes financings for oil and gas companies and national oil companies, typically linked to offtake commitments. He is involved in the full deal cycle, from origination and negotiation through to execution and portfolio monitoring.

Prior to Trafigura, Javier worked at Standard Bank in London, in the Energy & Infrastructure Structured Finance. He originated and executed reserve-based lending, project finance and advisory transactions for energy clients across Africa. Earlier in his career, he advised oil and gas clients on structured financings and valuations at Exotix Partners (now part of the StoneX Group) in London, and worked in Principal Investments at BBVA in Madrid.

Javier holds Bachelor’s degrees in Law and in Business from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and a Master in Financial Analysis from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
